About the book

The Seven Jewish Samurai of Guadalajara is a multicultural story, a juxtaposition of two worlds. Drawing from Latin American realism and Jewish tradition, it combines stories of ghosts, rituals of the dead, Mexican folklore, and personal stories from the author's childhood.
Set during the seven days of shiva, the Jewish mourning ritual, and against the vibrant backdrop of Mexican culture, the book wrestles with issues of family dynamics, death, grief, and forgiveness.
With dialogue in both Spanish and English, the book seamlessly merges these worlds in a poignant and revelatory "mystical memoir" that is at once authentic and raw, daring and enticing.
With the author's background in drama therapy, the book includes an element of performance, with a 20-minute one-woman show accompanying it.

Meet the author

I have been a licensed psychotherapist for over 20 years and have been privileged to witness stories of grief and redemption through my practice.
As a drama therapist, I treasure storytelling and the intriguing dramas we all create in our minds and our lives. It is what makes us human.
In a way, my book is a tribute to all the stories my clients have shared with me — and to anybody who has dealt with unfinished family issues.
I believe that sometimes a book needs to be written and then shared. There are many books that people write but don't dare to share.I took a leap of faith to share sensitive material with my readers.
I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it!
